My makeup from Halloween

Just wanted to do a quick post to show you all the makeup I did for Halloween. Since I am obsessed with all things Dia de los Muertos, I went with that as my theme.

This isn't the greatest picture and it was hours after I had initially applied the makeup but that's all because Halloween is pretty hectic when you got 3 little kids around to dress up! We had fun though and got an absolutely absurd amount of candy (trick or treating in densely packed military housing always brings a windfall of noms!)...

Products used:

Manic Panic Goth White creme makeup
ELF HD setting powder
Ben Nye Lumiere Creme Color wheel
NYX Jumbo Eye pencil in Black Bean
Wet N Wild Color Icon single in Panther
Random old Rimmel black eyeliner pencil
Sally Girl glitter adhesive
Glamour Doll Eyes Eyelights in Fierce, Rave and Legit

I do love Halloween. It is my absolute favorite holiday for several reasons, some of which being: 1) it's all about the spooky things and I luvz me some spooky things. 2) It's the only time it's actually ok to accept free candy from random strangers?? 3) You can rock all kinds of kooky getups and no one gives you the stink eye or tries to have you committed. Hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did!

Spam on the Cheap, the FOTD edition

Yep, it's time to clean out the To Post folders again--I always procrastinate on sorting through my FOTD pics because I tend to take about 340850438504 shots of each look and it takes forever just to upload them and click through them all.

It's kinda funny--I can tell the chronology of these pics based on my hair color's metamorphosis. Gotta love my Manic Panic A.D.D.!

**Unless otherwise noted, I used the following in all these pictures: Almay Clear Complexion Foundation, Powder and Concealor in Light/Ivory; ELF Eyebrow kit in 'medium;' Jordana Fabuliner; Maybelline The Falsies Flared Mascara; NYX HD eyeshadow base**

Look, I still have pink hair in this one!
Eyes: Sugarpill Chromalust in Tiara and Stella
Cheeks: Physicians Formula Happy Booster blush
Lips: Baby Lips balm--the minty one with no pigment in the lime green tube (I can't remember the name)...

Enter the Turquoise/purple hair!
Eyes: Wet N Wild 8 Pan eyeshadow in "Blue Had Me at Hello." Sugarpill Chromalust in Stella
Cheeks: ELF blush in Pink Passion
Lips: Revlon Lip Butter in Dollypop over NYC Lipstain in Forever Fuchsia

Oh look, yet another blue shadow look...what a shock.
Eyes: Glamour Doll Eyes shadows in Fabulous  and Aqua Foil, some ELF loose shadow that I can't remember and Sugarpill Chromalust in Stella (oh yea I'm crushin HARD on Stella!)
Lips: ELF lipstick in Gypsy
Cheeks: Physicians Formula Happy Booster blush

This is my eye look from yesterday. I was being lazy and didn't do my whole face, hence the eyeballz only shots. For this look, I used Pearl Ex Pigments in Green/Yellow Duo, Blue/Green Duo and Interference Gold.

What are Pearl Ex Pigments you ask? Well, if you are a crafty bitch like me, you might find the name familiar: they are powdered pearlescent pigments used to add color and luster to arts and crafts projects. You can find them in places like Hobby Lobby, AC Moore and Michael's. Here's the thing about them: they are non-toxic, inert, acid-free, amazingly finely milled, richly pigmented and they apply, blend, and last (all frickin day) like a DREAM...but they're not TECHNICALLY cosmetics. I figure if it looks like makeup, applies like makeup, and is made of perfectly safe ingredients, then HECK, to ME, it's makeup! But, to cover both my ass and Pearl-Ex's I'm gonna say if you wanna try them out, do so 'at your own risk.' I've worn them quite a few times with absolutely no ill effects whatsoever and I am always blown away at how vibrant they are and how easy they are to work with.  ...

Anyway, so there's some of the mugshots I've collected over the past few months. Clearly, I gotta lay off the blue eyeshadow for a while. It's funny. I used to avoid blue shadow like the plague cuz I always read it didn't do anything for green eyes. But, after I started dying my hair all crazy-like again, I decided to HELL with what's "appropriate." I just wanna play with COLOR, dangit!

Here's to self-liberation...

So what's your color of the moment?

FOTD from last week--featuring even MORE Glamour Doll Eye & Sugarpill!

Hello, hello! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. The weather has been way too gorgeous lately so we've been spending redonk amounts of time outside. I HAVE been taking pics, though--my "to post" folder is overflowing, so time to stop being a bad blogger and sit down long enough write something and hit "publish."

Here's a look I wore last week. Basically my objective here was to match my NEW new hair (yes, I changed it AGAIN--took my trusty Manic Panic Atomic Turquoise and put it all over my head--including over the existing Hot Hot Pink streaks--which created these awesome royal purple chunks and, of course, deepened the other Atomic Turquoise parts even more)...oh yea, and I also wanted to play some more with my gorgeous Glamour Doll Eye and Sugarpill loose shadows, of course

Oh yea, dig the new hair? You can't really tell in these pics but it is in streaks--Manic Panic Hot Hot Pink and Atomic Turquoise over bleached-to-death blond. Yay for color!

EPIC Glamour Doll Eyes 23 eyeshadow and eye light swatchfest!!

Ok, so a while back, I decided I needed me some Glamour Doll Eyes makeup. It was all Makeupbee.com's fault. You can only look at so many mind-blowing looks created with a product before you cave and order a big honkin haul of said product. And yes, I ordered this all with my own money--no freebies and no discounts in exchange for reviews (I don't think my piddly little blog would qualify for anything like that yet anyway) and I didn't even bother getting sample sizes. As my girl Ani Di Franco says "If you're gonna do it over do it. That's how you know you're alive. Go ahead take yourself a coma nap & take a puddle dive"...so I got frickin 23 full size jars of eyeshadows and eye lights...and I'm SO glad I did.

So here's the deal about Glamour Doll Eyes shadows (so far as I understand it). They divide their eyeshadows into 2 categories: eye lights and, um, well, eyeshadows. Eye lights are amazing shimmer-tastic super fine, super gorgeous eye-safe glitters. The eyeshadows are beautiful, superfine mineral shadows that seem to melt and coat the skin with gorgeous opaque color. I decided to divide my swatches according to category.

First up, the eye lights.

All swatches are taken in full sunlight over Sally Girl glitter adhesive (yea, those itty bitty 99 cent tubes that you probably thought were lip glosses--nope they're glitter adhesives and they're actually pretty damn good)

Column 1 top to bottom: Glow Stick (day-glo lime green); Techno (awesome teal); Cashed Out (gorgeous deep green)
Column 2: Pink Cadillac (girly sugary pink); Ditzy (a rosy pink)
Column 3: Steam Punk (warm bronze); Hollywood )silver HOLO!)
Column 4: Fierce (gorgeous true red); Circus (true citrusy orange)
Column 5: Rave (royal purple); Legit (a very yellowy gold)

Of course, as always, I must first apologize for my camera. It sucks and I need a better one and I'm seriously saving up for one. Despite my camera's disproportionate amount of suck, you can still see these glitters are frickin amazing. I've used Cashed Out in my St Patty's Day look and I've used Rave and Fierce in other looks that I didn't get around to photographing and they are so amazingly easy to work with. They are super fine glitters so they stick incredibly well and lend such gorgeous drag queen sparkle to any look you use them in.

Eye Lights are available for $4.00 per full-size pot. You can get your pot with or without sifters (I opted for no sifters cuz, basically, I hate sifters). You can also purchase samples for much less.

Up next are the eyeshadows. The pricing for these is as follows:  full size eyeshadows are $6.00 (sifter jars: 1.5-2 g of product; non-sifter jars: 2-2.5 g of product). Sample baggies (0.5g of product) are $1.25 and sample jars (1g of product in a 5g jar) are $2.50.

Top row: Veteran (amazing blue with red sparkle); Bruised (a darkened purple with black undertones and beautiful aqua sparkle); Fabulous (a teal); Jailhouse Jumpsuit (shimmering orange); Sarcasm (a chartreuse with black undertones); Oddity (an olive/lime green)
Bottom Row: Ahoy Sailor (deep dark blackened blue--the only matte in the bunch); Pinky Swear (amazing violet flash!); Aqua Foil (basically looks like its name sounds); Electric Lemonade (shimmering yellow); Franken Glamour (lime green with gold undertones; Back Stabber (a springy green with silvery undertones).

Every last one of these shadows is amazing! So pigmented and shimmering and buttery (except for Ahoy Sailor, which is a matte)--I swatched these all over NYX HD eyebase and I barely had to touch my brush to my skin to get such gorgeous impact. The only one that was a bit tricky was Ahoy Sailor. I had to go over that one twice to achieve full opacity (had to go over it 2 whole times?! such a travesty, I know lol)...

Anyway, bottom line on these shadows is this: They're gorgeous, a breeze to work with  and they're downright affordable, dagnabit. I'd tell you to go get some NAOW but apparently, the Glamour Doll Eye website is offline until April 20th. You can still keep up with them via their Facebook and Twitter, though. But when the site's back, you BEST go get some pretties!

nails on crack from your favorite bimbo punk

I totally thought I was off the crack, but then they came out with glitter crack and I had a massive relapse. According to the flood of China Glaze press releases in my Google Reader app this morning, China Glaze is coming out with a line of glitter crackle colors and so is Nicole by OPI, but I won't be buying any of those those. Why you ask? Because I found a bunch of glitter crackle polishes that look JUST like the China Glaze ones at Five Below (a brand new MASSIVE Five Below that they opened a few towns over)...here's what I did with a few of them:

This is Funky Fingers Blue Glitter Scales (what they call their particular incarnation of crack--everybody's gotta have their own snazzy little name) layered over Fuchsia Glitter Scales layered over NOPI's It's All About the Glam.

(please ignore gnarly cuticles and sloptastic polish application, k? thx)

I confess, the idea to layer one glitter crackle over another is not my original idea. I saw it on one of the other bazillion nail blogs that I follow and I would TOTALLY link to that blog right now if I could only remember which one it was (if I DO find it, I will def edit this post and put the link in). Damn faulty brain and its inability to remember junk!

These crackles are much more subtle than their non-glitter cousins. I discovered (after completely jacking up the first hand I did) that you should definitely use a thicker coat for these or it won't crack well--you'll just end up with what I call "canyon nails" (one massive crack down the center of your polish). Also, if you apply it over slightly wet polish, it will crack your basecoat (a problem I never had with regular crackles).

Anyway, in the end, I'm glad I only paid 2.50 per bottle for these (they were 2 for $5) because, honestly, I'm not a fan. Glitter crack is whack...

Anyway, now for the bimbo punk portion of this post. Here's my look of the day:

Bleach blond plus neon leopard and studded leather and chains--what ELSE would you call that but bimbo punk. Just remember, I'm the one who started the trend lol...anyway, enough over-estimating my impact on the fashion world and onto the products I used here:

Face:
The usual Almay Clear Complexion foundation, concealor and powder
L'oreal Project Runway blush in "accidentally ripped off the label and can't for the life of me remember the name" (DOH!)
Wet N Wild Bronzzer in Acapulco Glow

Eyes:
NYX HD eyeshadow base
Glamour Doll Eyes loose eyeshadow in Jailhouse Jumpsuit and Aqua Foil (LOVING these shadows and yes I am STILL planning a mega swatchfest of all the GDE shadows I hauled about a month ago)
Wet N Wild creme shadow pencil in Pixie
Jordana Fabuliner in black
Milani Liquif'eye pencil in black
Wet N Wild Coloricon shadow single in Panther (my new go-to for setting my liner)

Brows:
ELF brow kit in medium
ELF clear brow setting gel

Lips:
Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Fruiti

Oh and here's a shot of the spider post earrings I made out of some Halloween craft button thingies I've had sitting around forever (I hoard halloween-themed craft supplies-well, I hoard halloween-themed ANYTHING really. It makes my little black heart happy)... Stay tuned to find out how you can win a pair (among other things)!!

It's not too late to post my St Patty's day look, right?

Heck, green is awesome all the time--not just St Patty's day, so here we go:

This is the redonk look I was rockin on St Patty's day:

Green glitter gaudiness--gotta love it.

The green glitter I used in this was the fantastically awesome Glamour Doll Eyes Eyelights in Cashed Out...I am LOVING these Eye Light glitters! They are so fine and sparkly and they are incredibly affordable too at only $4.00 for a full size pot (samples are available, too: 1.00 for .5 gram baggie and 1.75 for 1 gram of product in a 5 gram jar)! Once The Hubz gets back and I can get back to my regular blogging schedule, I'll be doing a massive swatch and review of Glamour Doll eye cosmetics...I'm SO frickin smitten!

Products:

eyes:
NYX HD shadow base
several greens from BH Cosmetics 120 palette 1st edition
Sally Girl glitter adhesive patted on top of shadows
Glamour Doll Eyes Cashed Out affixed onto Sally Girl adhesive
Jordana Fabuliner in black
Maybelline The Falsies Flared
Wet N Wild Acapulco Glow Bronzzer under brow as highlight

face:
Almay Clear Complexion foundation, powder and concealer
Garnier anti-dark circle eye roller
Physician's Formula Happy Booster blush
Wet N Wild Acapulco Glow Bronzzer

lips:
random clear lip gloss (think it was NYC Liquid Lipshine)

Of course the green glitter didn't stop on my eyes. It spread to the nails too courtesy of Orly Here Comes Trouble. If I had more time, I would have busted out some nail art shamrocks or something but, as I've mentioned before, I am severely short on time right now.

Oh how I love this polish!!

2 EOTDs and other randomness

Hmmm, housework or blog post? Damn right blog post won out...don't have much in my "to post" photo folder, so here's some half-assed eye looks & whatnot...

I hate that I can never manage to capture the vibrancy of my makeup's colors in pictures...btw, excuse all the frickin spots. No it's not chicken pox. I didn't do any face makeup in these pics so this be my nekkid (and redonkulously acne-prone) skin (frightful sight, I know)...

(look at that craptastic blending job--or lack thereof)

The above is an EOTD from a few days ago...Of course, you can't really tell what is going on in the pics--sucky camera, sucky photographer yadda yadda yadda--but it's basically Sugarpill Hysteric, Royal Sugar and Goldilux with a ton of glitter caked on top. If I remember correctly, one of the glitters on there is Rave by Glamour Doll Eyes and the liner is actually Glamour Doll Eyes Ahoy Sailor mixed with Iline--a mixing medium I got from TKB Trading.

Oh, that reminds me, stay tuned for a massive Glamour Doll Eyes swatch post as I recently hauled a TON of their eyeshadows & glitters and just got the package the other day)...

I'm including these pics cuz they are good shots of my latest greatest ridiculous DIY beauty obsession: faux feather extensions. I don't really know why they even bother calling them faux feathers cuz they look nothing like those actual rooster feather extensions that everyone is crazy about (google feather extensions and get a ton of pics of Steven Tyler--who is apparently a major fan). These ones are just crazy colored skinny lil strips of fake hair that are bonded at the top. You put them in the same way you do feather extensions: using a looping tool (you can get them on Amazon), pull a tiny bit of your real hair thru a little silicone bead, then insert the bonded tip of the extension, and then you clamp the bead shut at the root of your hair with some flat-nosed pliers. I frickin love these things. Anything that allows me to crazy up my 'do with no dye mess left over to clean up works for me! You can treat these extensions like your real hair. I've flat-ironed & washed mine a zillion times and they are just fine.

You can get extension kits on Amazon.com that include a bunch of extensions, the beads and the looping tool (Bundle Monster has a nice cheap one). I supplied my own flat-nosed pliers (in addition to painting faces and nails, I make jewelry so I have basically every shape and size of pliers known to mankind)...

Gotta show off my adorable little skelly earrings. LOVE me some bones!

Here are some shots of today's eyeshadow madness...

(Look you can ALMOST see my labret winking at you. I'm actually wearing jewelry in it for the first time in forever...)

I've been on a huge blue kick lately.  Although these pics make this look like one big swipe of baby blue across my lids, there's really 3 colors working here: a lavendar inner corner highlight, a light minty green/blue lid and a darker teal in the outer v and blended just slightly into the crease (I try not to do too much heavy shading in my crease cuz of my cave-man brow-bone and deep set eyes)...I'm wearing Milani Haute Flash lip gloss in Star Flash (the LE version, not the new core version)...I'm so obsessed with those glosses! Oh yea, and all the shadows are from the 4th edition BH 120 palette.

Showin a little purple leopard print leg...these tights are SHINY too (can't tell that in the pic, though)...

Ok, that's enough rambling for one day...
