crazy, ridiculous craptastic Anti-Valentine's look

I am excited to say I'm a new member of the awesome Facebook group Never Too Much Sparkle, where makeup junkies like myself convene to feed each others' addictions. One really cool feature of this group is they do weekly themes and ask you to create looks based on them. This week's theme was either Pro or Anti Valentine's makeup. Being the wretched, blackhearted soul that I am I, of course, chose Anti Valentine's and came up with this whack ass look right here:

terrifying, isn't it?

(I wish the red shades didn't look so washed out in the pictures. They were much more vibrant in real life.) Understand, now, that I haven't ventured into the realm of fantasy makeup since I was, like, a teen rockin out in front of my mirror to Marilyn Manson--hence the general, overall suckitude of my work. I'm not really sure where all this crazyness came from. I started out initially just wanting to do some ballerina-inspired eye-liner with maybe red and purple shadows and a tear trickling down one cheek--since it's anti-Valentine's and I was trying to indicate sadness (and, of course, my dummy literal brain decided sadness meant I actually had to DRAW the crying on)...but I just kept going with the makeup til I couldn't go no more. The shawl I got over my head is simply because I didn't feel like dealing with the rats nest on top of my head...plus, I liked how it almost looked like an ode to Martha Graham's "Lamentation"...also it looks more pitiful that way.

Yes, it's ok to shudder. I can't think of a more appropriate response...

This bitch needs some bo-tox--just look at those frown lines!

Oh the melancholy--oh the infinite sadness...

Kinda looks like a Strega Nonna on a bad day...

yea I admit, it was WAY fun to conjure up this look. I guess I'll get better with the technical aspects of this kind of makeup the more I practice--all the more reason for me to sit in front of the mirror painting my face & ignoring my housework!!
